Washington Residential Care Home
Location
Located almost equal distance from Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham this service provides excellent transport links to this trio of cities and local attractions.
Housing Support
This service is a CQC registered care home owned by 3 Rivers Housing Association; providing accommodation and personal care to adults who have a learning disability. The home owners retain responsibiltiy for maintining the properties.
Two separate houses are encompassed by this single service, each providing care to six clients. Both are detached, with ground floor bedrooms and easy wheelchair access to accommodate individuals with physical difficulties.
Local Activities
Washington offers numerous passtimes including a leisure centre; art centre; library; restaurants; bowling alley; and the new revamped Galleries shopping centre and retail park. The historic Penshaw monument is 4 miles away.
The aim of the service is to offer the individuals a good quality of life by promoting independence as far as possible and a valued lifestyle through access to community based activities.
The Staff
Initial referral is through Sunderland Social Services and the local Health Authority. The needs of each individual will be identified through an assessment undertaken by care management. If the service is deemed appropriate, then the relevant parties will agree a care plan.
With staff on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this gives individuals the reassurance that help is always at hand.
